In another troubling attack against a critical infrastructure provider, Frontier Communications acknowledged in its SEC filing that it was breached April 12th 2o24 by a cyber crime group that compromised personally. identifying information (PII). Frontier Communications provides gigabit Internet services to commercial and consumer segments. In response to the attack, Frontier shut down portions of its operation disrupting network services. Customers experienced loss of internet according to social media posts.
What You Can Do
Frontier Communications has not yet disclosed how its systems were breached. However, as a provider of internet services, it presents an attractive target to foreign adversaries intent on disrupting operations in the US. While we do not yet know how the attack was perpetrated, we do know that managing your attack surfaces is essential to reducing the likelihood of being breache.
